More than 30 officials and experts from National Standardization Organizations and representatives from enterprises of 08 countries of Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam participated in the Workshop.

This Workshop was among Workshops and Training of “Trade Promotion Program through standardization in South and Southeast Asian countries”, funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). SIS and South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) have coordinated to implement the project from June 2012 to the end of 2014.

Objectives of the Program are to support South and Southeast Asian countries to participate more actively and efficiently in formulation and application of international standards; improve competitiveness of private enterprises through the participation in international standardization activities; support to better access to practice and methodologies acknowledged internationally for the formulation of legal and regulatory documents related to environment.

In order to achieve above-mentioned objectives, the Program includes 02 main components which are standard formulation and application; 02 international standards which are being drafted to be used for research, especially ISO 13065 “Criterion of suitability for biological energy” and ISO/DIS 14067 “Carbon trace of products”.
